Since Friday, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have fired over 200 rockets at cities, towns, and farming regions in southern Israel, yet the best EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton can cough up is concern over the escalation of violence that “left 14 Palestinians dead.” Statements like this serve as a u-turn on human rights and a drastic departure from the support an ally should muster to any nation-state defending its citizens and sovereignty. Ashton’s blatant disregard for the lives of Israelis is palpable and issuing statements that coddle Palestinian terrorism only serves to promote jihad and propel Palestinian propaganda into mainstream media.

The terrorist factions claiming responsibility for the barrage of rockets include the Popular Resistance Committees, considered a terrorist group by the US and Israel. The PRC was founded in September 2000, and like Hamas they refuse any type of peace with Israel. Acting as a sub-contractor for Iranian elements in Lebanon and within the Hezbollah, the PRC carries out terror attacks against Israelis in exchange for funds.

Many don’t realize that Hamas, the terrorist organization controlling Gaza, directly funds and supports the PRC. Hamas no longer looks like the axis of evil by allowing the PRC to act as an independent proxy and carry out terrorist attacks against Israelis all while declaring their official stance of “restraint”. Besides allocating funds, Hamas also provides the PRC with weapons and combat training.

The other group claiming responsibility for attacks is the Al-Quds Brigade, the military wing of Islamic Jihad, considered a terrorist group by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia and Israel.

Neither of these groups strike me as beacons of peace that Ashton would want to willingly associate her name with. If that wasn’t enough, there’s the blinding and never-ending brouhaha of hypocrisy from Arab states. The Arab League has already condemned the violence in Gaza calling the attacks a “massacre,” and a group of Arab states have already met in Cairo asking the international community to intervene and hold Israel responsible for the violence.

Let’s be honest about this propaganda. When Palestinians post 3-year old photos and promote Israel’s Iron Dome as firing rockets at Gaza when it’s intercepting rockets, this is propaganda. When the Arab League says a “massacre” is underway in Gaza but overlooks the real massacre of over 7,000 Syrians murdered in cold blood, this is propaganda. When Israel launches attacks at Palestinian terrorists plotting to harm Israelis, this is self-defense. And when Palestinian terrorists launch over 200 rockets at Israeli cities this cannot be couched as “resistance,” its terrorism.

Politicians who report incidents erroneously so jihadists gain public sympathy and good PR are in effect vetting heinous crimes. Every politician has the ability to get indexed on the right side of history. Surely Ashton wants to be remembered for something greater than her current status: the poster child for Palestinian terrorists.
